Coldplay - Shiver

After weeks of cryptic social media clues, half announcements and a flood of hype, Coldplay released their new single, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall a couple of hours ago. It's a change of direction but not necessarily a departure from their back catalogue. It's dancier than most of their previous work and definitely more pop than their last album. I'm not quite sold on it yet (in saying that I do love the booming, marching percussion), which is disappointing but it could well turn out to be a grower, and there is no indication of it being the lead single off their upcoming album meaning it could be simply a standalone single. So instead of putting a song that I'm still unsure on up here, I would rather share my favourite Coldplay song. I love everything about Shiver, the lyrics, the riff, the crashing cymbals. There is too much to mention, it's best just to listen to it. 

An Horse - Dressed Sharply

An Horse hail from Brisbane but haven't played in town for a few years. They have been doing their thing out of America due to their strong following and have played some great venues, support slots and festivals as a result. Tonight An Horse are back, playing at The Zoo and judging by their twitter are rather excited. This track is off their latest album Walls, which dropped a couple of weeks ago.

The Panics - Majesty

If popularity was based on the quality of music a band produces, The Panics would be selling out arenas. I love everything they've done and this track is no different. Majesty is busier than their previous singles but not once does it seem messy. Their new album is out in late July.

Battles - Ice Cream

The lead single from math-rockers Battles second album Gloss Drop, featuring Matias Aguayo on vocals. Ice Cream is infectious and upbeat, leaving the listener questioning what it is they just heard that made them dance uncontrollably and left them on a high unlike any other. Get amongst it.

Taking the Plunge

I've decided it's time to take the plunge into the blog world. I am addicted to Twitter, but 140 characters just isn't enough for me, so I will unleash my ramblings onto this very page.

I have given myself two rules to follow:

1. There is no structure, formatting or specific method of writing to be used, but all posts will in some way be related to music. 
2. Must either post, review or update the site at least once a week. I don't want anything getting stale.

They are both broad but without them this page could descend into chaos and complaining, enough of which gets done on my social media accounts. This blog is for me, but I'm a sharer. If you choose, have a read and make a comment.

I think I've found my new addiction and procrastination tool.
